Kindergarten Homework....

My oldest son is in Kindergarten. Part of last weeks "homework" was to create a mailbox of sorts to deposit Valentine's from classmates. Believe me when I say that I was ALL OVER this project! :-) Harland and I went to Michael's in search of the perfect box to use. I found this cute pressboard wood box for $4.99 (yes I know I could have used a shoebox, I just figured that this would be much cuter)! The box even had the opening cut out of the top already (a huge bonus if you ask me). We then went to Archiver's to pick out the items that we would use to decorate the box.
We first painted the box with Strawberries and Cream acrylic paint (Making Memories). Once the paint dried, we measured the box and applied the paper to all outside surface areas using Royal Coat Decoupage Finish in clear. The patterned paper is called "Wild Thing" and is made by KI Memories and is from their Valentine's line from last year (I think the title of paper is so appropriate for my little guy and I love the fact that the paper itself isn't 100% girly). The glittered chipboard letters, felt stickers, and rhinestone bling are all from K&Co's Smitten line. We also wound up using some extra little red epoxy hearts from Cloud 9. Harland just loved decorating his box! I'm betting that all of his little girlfriend admirers will absolutely love it!
Here is a view of the box from the side:

On a personal note, my job interview today went very well. The recruiter who interviewed me made me an offer within 10 minutes of speaking with her. I start on February 25th. I am so grateful for this opportunity and thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers!
Supplies:
Ink: None (gasp)
Paper: Wild Thing (KI Memories)
Other: Felt Stickers, Bling, Glittered Chipboard Letters (all by K&Co Smitten line), Cloud 9 Red Epoxy Heart stickers, Strawberries and Cream acrylic paint (Making Memories)

Oh, my gosh! I forgot about how we always had our little boxes or bags to collect our Valentines in. Sometimes we had bags we hung on the front of our desks. The boys would always be so embarrassed to give Valentines to the girls. The girls would always try to read something into the Valentines from the cutest boys--gradeschool, no less! Anyway, your box is totally adorable! Also, I'm happy you got the job. I'd be happier if you were independently wealthy and could do just whatever you want whenever you want, but maybe that will come later. Ya think? Good luck, Linda!
