For those of you who read my blog on a regular basis, you know that I have a beautiful male cat by the name of Rocky. Sadly, Rocky went to kitty heaven a little over three weeks ago. On Saturday, I went to the humane society just to look. Well, you know how that goes. ;-)
I am now the proud owner of a 1 year old female cat by the name of Duchess (that is what Harland wants to name her anyway). Fraidy cat would be a better name for her at this point but we're working on her. :-) She was a stray and has found her way under my bed in the master bedroom and has only come out long enough to go potty in the litter box and that is it. She'll come to the very edge of the bed to allow me and the kids to pet her and that is about it. She is very friendly and loving (she is purring and chirping and head butting) but she has decided that she'll come out when she's darned good and ready (so no cute photo ops until then). She is petite and all black (like my Rocky and my kitties before her). Shadow (our lab puppy) is just dying to make friends, and luckily the kitty isn't hissing or anything of that nature. I think she'll just take a little time to realize that she's safe and that no one will be hurting her.
Wish us luck!

sorry to hear about Rocky, I have a 16 year old cat and know how it is. Glad to hear that Duchess has a loving home and sure in time she will realize it and feel safe out and about.
So sorry to hear about Rocky. That is never an easy thing to have to deal with. Can't wait to see pictures of the new kitty! I am such a sucker for kitties. lol! That's why I stay away from the humaine society, I could take home all of them :-)
Congrats on your new sweet baby! I can't wait to see her! And just so you know, I am going to go hug my Callie and think of your little Rocky. {{Big HUGS!!!}}
Congratulations on your new arrival :) When she comes out for long enough, be sure and post a photo for us all to "ooh" and "aah" over :)
And...I don't think there is any such thing as "just going to look" at the Humane Society :)
I'm soooo sorry to hear about Rocky's passing. Maybe he's met my Kit Kat by now... :) I can't wait to see your new furry baby. Congratulations!
Awwwwww, welcome to the new member of your family, Linda! She sounds very sweet and affectionate and she'll gradually get used to her new home. I'm so sorry about Rocky. I know how sad it is to lose a pet.
Sorry about Rocky--I just lost my favorite cat around the same time. She died of old age, which I guess is a good thing after all. We still have 2 younger cats, but once they're gone, that will be it. It's too sad to lose a pet. Glad you were able to rescue a kitty--I'm sure she will adjust soon and give you years of love!
This is my first visit to your blog, but not my last! Stop in for a visit to mine when you get a chance.
